Blackpool

Blackpool_Tower_(1)

OK so I know it is the obvious choice being the most popular destination for travelling hens but there is a reason Blackpool is the top pick. It may be the king of kitsch and classy it certainly is not but this place is great fun and with plenty do it is a brilliant destination for a short break. There is also the fact that with so many hen parties and stags about, it is almost impossible to embarrass yourself no matter what you do!

Byzantine Jewellery – Ideal for Your Honeymoon

Wedding_ring_Louvre_AC924

One of the big trends in jewellery at the moment is pieces which take their inspiration from another age or culture, whether that be massive tribal necklaces or jewellery which features ancient Celtic symbols and knots. One of the cultures which is providing most inspiration to jewellery makers currently is the Byzantine Empire, but what exactly is the Byzantine Empire and what does the jewellery look like? How Much Should You Pay for Your Wedding Dress?

The dress is one of the most important aspects of the wedding for most brides and they will spend a great deal of effort searching for the perfect gown. There are so many different styles available that the choice can be a difficult one and the issue is complicated by the vast range of prices. The question is, do you need to spend a fortune to get a great dress and how much of your budget should you set aside for the gown?

Budget

Decide what your budget for the whole wedding is and try to stick to it. Everyone wants a fantastic wedding but there is no point laying on an occasion that you will still be paying for years later. Don’t create a millstone around your neck and remember that after you are married there will be many important things you will need to finance like home improvements and children. Spend only what you have and set aside no more than 10% of this for your gown. Continue reading

Bridal Lingerie

Hannah_Harper_2

Most brides end up pondering over what lingerie to wear for their big day. It is all too easy to head straight for the beautiful sexy numbers available but wearing these can often be a mistake. Your wedding day is a long and tiring occasion and so comfort is of the utmost importance and it is vital that you choose pieces which complement your dress. If you want something sexy for your wedding night you are better off changing into this after taking off your dress but in any case you will find that after a long day and plenty of drink neither you nor your new husband will much care about your underwear! Planning My Wedding

Bildtankstelle_1_011
Since very recently getting engaged, I have to admit to myself and others that I’m scared. Very scared, actually. Not scared of solidifying the relationship with my partner, but simply the cost of getting married.

I’ve never been one to spend money frivolously, and it seems that organising a wedding requires you to do just that. Looking at wedding budget lists is horrifying – here is a 2013 UK wedding budget list. For example, a suggested average spend of £300 on wedding stationery is something I find to be extraordinary, and pointless too. Continue reading

Hot Bridesmaids Colours for 2013

angel-forever-ealgb008-2

Last year it was all about purple with a massive proportion of brides opting for this colour as the theme for their weddings. Vibrant Cadbury’s purple was by far the most popular choice for 2012 and is still a top pick for 2013 but other colours are coming to the fore. This year should have been all about emerald green as it was chosen by Pantone as the colour of the year and has therefore had a strong presence in fashion and jewellery designs recently but there is little sign of brides looking to this colour for inspiration. Salmon, coral and mint green might also have been predicted to be big this summer as the high street fashion collections heavily feature these colours but there is little evidence of a rush to these shades either. The Emerald River of Prince Caspian

soca river

If you have seen the movie Chronicles of Narnia Prince Caspian then you may have marvelled at the stunning scenery in the film shot along a gorgeous emerald river surrounded by incredible alpine peaks. The river featured is the Soča and the scenes were shot close to the town of Bovec in Slovenia. If you love the romance of the mountains and fancy a honeymoon in gorgeous surroundings that will not break the bank then consider giving Slovenia a try. Continue reading

The Romantic Road

Could there be a honeymoon destination with a more appropriate name than this? The Romantic Road wends its way from Würzburg to Füssen past rolling hillsides, gorgeous villages and historic towns. The tourist trail was the brainchild of a group of enterprising travel professionals in the 1950’s and loosely follows an ancient trading route which connected Bavaria to central Germany. It is a magnificent drive with plenty to see and do on the way and ends with a visit to one of the world’s best known castles. Continue reading

Music Ideas For Your Wedding

Your wedding should be the biggest day of your life with the focal point being the ceremony itself. Many couples spend a great deal of time planning the details of their reception but do little to make their actual marriage an event to remember. The addition of live music can really add drama and atmosphere to the proceedings and most venues, even some churches, will be happy for you to have musicians playing rather than a CD or just the church organ. You may be restricted as to what pieces the church will find acceptable but at other venues you could pick any music you fancy remembering that you are not allowed religious content at civil ceremonies. Here are a few ideas for your special day. Continue reading
